A Pleasant Find In Front of Walmart

The other day, I had to make a quick trip to Walmart.  I wasn't near our house, so I visited a different one then I normally do.

As my youngest daughter and I walked toward the front, my eye caught very pretty containers...

I love the Pygmy Date Palms with Gold Mound Lantana planted around them.

I have seen these plants together before, but what I really liked with the short, round containers.

You never know what you'll find at Walmart....

That's nice and a testimony to a place where good design and hort practices / plantsmanship is affecting everything. More than you might think living there, and seeing all the nasty "shrub shaping". Our "upscale" outdoor lifestyle center doesn't come close to that in it's containers...a sign of how hard it is to influence here.

And nice plant combos, too!

Sometimes in order to make a statement, one need not make too much of an effort. A good eye for aesthetics, a sense of harmony, balance and colours can do the trick just as well.

I love big containers for plants. Did you get some?

If you have a moment sometime, could you ID the red flowers that look like strawberries at the bottom of my current blog post?

Thanks! These were at Baker's Nursery on 40th Street and Osborn.
