Living in the desert southwest has many advantages Living in the desert southwest has many advantages, including being able to have a landscape filled with blooming plants all winter long when gardens throughout much of the country are brown or covered in a layer of snow.🌵🌼

One of my favorite winter blooming plants is Angelita Daisies. They are a beautiful, small perennial that is a reliable producer of yellow daisy-like flowers throughout the year.

The heaviest blooms occur in winter and spring, which makes this plant an asset to the landscape.

Plant Angelita daisy in full sun for best appearance and in well-drained soils. Add compost to the planting hole so that resulting mixture is 1 part native soil to 1 part compost.

Periodic pruning of the flowers helps to promote additional flowering. No supplemental fertilizer is needed.

How many of these yellow beauties would you like to add to your garden?🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
Do you know what the cure is for a blah and boring Do you know what the cure is for a blah and boring landscape? Color!!! It is an integral part of landscape of landscape design.

There are 2 main color groups in the garden. The first consists of warm colors which are the reds, oranges, and yellows. When used in the landscape, they grab your attention right away and excite you.

If you want to create a focal point, then plants with warm colors are what you want to use.🌻🌺🌼

Our next group consists of cool colors such as pinks, purples, and blues. These colors tend to make us feel relaxed and can make a garden appear larger.

If you live in a hot climate, you may want to incorporate cool colors in your garden as a way to ‘visually’ cool off.🌸

Are you more of a warm color person, a cool color person, or a mix?

I am loving this ‘no-fuss’ cactus!😊 I saw I am loving this ‘no-fuss’ cactus!😊

I saw this in a client’s garden. While I’m not sure where this is from, your local nursery is a good spot to find some great pieces of garden art.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have plants like these that will always look great?

Did you know that Prickly Pear can be planted from Did you know that Prickly Pear can be planted from seed, but there is a much easier way?😊

Just cut off a pad that is at least 6 inches tall. Put the pad upright in a dry, shady place for at least 2 weeks. This allows a callus to form at the bottom.

Plant with the cut end down and do not water for the first month because it is susceptible to fungal infections.

After the first month, water every 2 - 3 weeks until established. If planted in the summer, provide shade until established (about 3 months).

I generally do not recommend planting in the winter, but encourage waiting until spring when the soil warms up.☀️

Have you tried this before?
