I love the colorful beauty of the different Tacoma I love the colorful beauty of the different Tacomas in my garden! 🌼⠀
⠀
When people move to the desert, they often crave colorful plants with lush green foliage and Tacomas fit the bill perfectly. 🌺🌿🌼⠀
⠀
What’s even better is that they thrive in full sun and shrug off desert heat. I just LOVE that!⠀
⠀
There are so many varieties to choose from - I have four different ones in my garden.⠀
⠀
* ‘Sparky’ (on the left), is named after my alma mater’s mascot with golden yellow flowers and maroon centers. They grow 5-6 feet tall and wide.⠀
⠀
* ‘Red Hot’ (top right), is a new introduction from the folks @CivanoNurseries in Tucson. They have red/orange flowers and the shrub is a nice petite size getting approximately 3-4 feet tall and wide.⠀
⠀
* Yellow Bells is probably the most popular of Tecoma and there are two different types. One is (Tecoma stans var. stans) which has lush green foliage and large yellow flowers and grows about 6 feet tall and wide.⠀
⠀
* The other type of Yellow Bells is (Tecoma stans var. angustata), (bottom right) - it grows taller, has narrower leaves and is more cold tolerant. Mine is over 10 feet tall! All Tacomas bloom throughout spring, summer, into early fall AND they attract hummingbirds!⠀
⠀
I love all of them so much!!! ❤️⠀
⠀
What variety is your favorite?
A dog’s life is filled with simple joys. 🐶🦴🎾⠀
⠀
Joys like finding an old apple left over over from last year’s crop and sitting underneath the dining room table during game night.⠀
⠀
Here are a few of mine...⠀
⠀
* Noting how the sun’s rays hit the flowers of my favorite plant.🌻⠀
* A good hug - I’ve missed those this past year.⠀
* The smell of freshly-baked bread from my bread-maker. ⠀
* Watching Harley play with the door stop. 🐶⠀
⠀
The key to finding small moments of joy is to be on the lookout for them. I promise that they are there. ☺️⠀

⠀
I love my peach tree and look forward to its delicious crop each year! BUT, too many peaches can be a problem. ⠀
🍑🍑🍑⠀
⠀
Why? Because when you have a cluster of peaches growing close together, they have to share resources and when they ripen, they are small.⠀
⠀
So, we ‘thin’ them. Ideally, you want them no closer than 6-8 inches apart.⠀
⠀
The result? Lovely, large peaches that will be ripe in May in my Phoenix area garden. ⠀
⠀
I did this for my apple tree too. Note - you don’t have to do this for your citrus trees. 🍋⠀
⠀
How about you? Have you ever thinned your peach or apple tree? 🍑🍏🍎
