yellow-flowering shrub

The back wall along my backyard is covered in yellow blossoms spring through fall.

Every year, I find myself pleasantly surprised that such this lovely, yellow-flowering shrub is native to southwestern deserts on into Mexico.

Most of the flowering plants in my garden have a long flowering period.  I tend not to waste time on plants that flower for less then 2 months.

My yellow bells (Tecoma stans) provides me with beautiful, yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers spring through fall.

Hummingbirds love the flowers too!

I need to see if I can find this locally. I tried growing it from seed, and it grew, but then I lost it.

    I love those yellow bells.

Thanks for sharing this really lovely yellow flower.

Tecoma stans blooms from early June through October in my zone 8b garden. Frost takes it back to the roots. It sprouts again in early May.

I did extensive research last year on how Esperanza and Caesalpinia differs in a hot and humid climate. Our sometimes prolonged rains affect them adversely despite our sandy rapidly draining soil. So far I haven't lost a full-size plant. Some of my tiny Pride of Barbados failed.

Tecoma stans grows easily from seed for me and with such prolific seed pods, sometimes I can't help myself.

I have the orange one called Orange Jubilee and simply love it. My zone is really too cold in winter for it so I planted it on the south facing side of a stucco wall and it has done well and survived the winters though it dies back. My favorite yellow flower is coreopsis or my Stella doro daylily

Dandelions are my favourite yellow flowers but none of my plants have such long flowering seasons. Perhaps one of the honeysuckles comes close – which is yellow too and beautifully scented.
